Socious Wallet
Create a decentralized identifier, hold verifiable credentials from issuers you trust, and prove things about yourself without handing over more than you need. Your keys and credentials live on your device — not on our servers.
The same wallet runs on every platform. Set it up once, then restore it anywhere from your encrypted backup file.
A wallet should ask for as little as possible, and tell you exactly what that is. This is the complete list.
The extension asks for unlimitedStorage and nothing else, so the browser never evicts the keys and credentials that are your identity.
No host permissions, no content scripts, no background process. The wallet cannot see the sites you browse, and it never runs unless you open it.
Nothing about how you use the wallet is measured or sold. There is no third-party telemetry in the extension.
Keys are generated and stored locally and protected by a passcode you choose. Backups are encrypted before they are uploaded, so only you can open them.
Some people will see this notice when they install. It is worth explaining plainly, because a security warning on a wallet deserves a straight answer.
The notice reflects how long our developer account has been publishing on the Chrome Web Store, not a security finding about this extension. Google extends trusted status to developers over time as they stay within its program policies, and our listing is new. Chrome shows the same notice on most new listings.
What you can check for yourself in the meantime is the permission list above — Chrome shows you the same list before it installs anything, so you never have to take our word for it.
Extension storage, your phone, and the web wallet are separate places, so moving between them works the same way every time: export an encrypted backup from one, restore it on the other. Your credentials and your identifier come with you, and the backup file is unreadable without your passcode.
Socious Wallet implements W3C Decentralized Identifiers and Verifiable Credentials, DIDComm v2 messaging, and Hyperledger Identus. Credentials you hold are not locked to Socious — they follow specifications that any conforming verifier can check.
Socious builds the infrastructure that lets impact claims be checked rather than taken on trust. The wallet is the part you hold.
